About us

Studio Erskine is a design and research studio with a playful approach to design and a focus on craftsmanship and material experience. We are heavily influenced by the arts, craft, contemporary culture and theory - our designs express a distinct versatility and sense of longevity. We celebrate Craft, creating and making and find pleasure in sharing creativity.

Underlying all this is a deeply rooted ethos of sustainable and ethical practice. Studio Erskine manifests our sense of being and our affinity with our natural and material world - the art of making and the art of dressing being a part of that connection.

Studio Erskine is home to Erskine Omigie, Edie & Ophelia and Circular Design Studio - our digital creative hub and commons library.

Erskine Omigie

Erskine Omigie is the slow fashion BRAnd of Studio erskine. We create two small collections a year - each garment is made to order in small batches, exclusively for our clients.

At the very heart of Erskine Omigie is artisan craftsmanship. We pay great attention to detail and place emphasis on tailoring and developing and exploring creative, sustainable textiles.

Edie & Ophelia

Edie & Ophelia was created to bring people closer to the art and craft of making and caring for the garments they own. Our mission is to change how we experience textiles and fashion.

At our core is the entrenched philosophy of material stewardship - embracing sustainable and ethical ways of keeping our garments for longer by encouraging a change in perspective and mindset.

We consider how we develop a relationship with our clothing - more often than not, how we wear and use our clothes leaves an imprint on our pieces and vice-versa. movement, tears, rips and creases of a well-worn and loved item tell our stories, and these stories have meaning.

At Edie & Ophelia, we adapt the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi - calling us to see the beauty in imperfection and impermanence and to value, appreciate and cherish the ageing process of our fashion and textile pieces.

We explore circular design ideas and initiatives for product longevity and emotional human-product attachment through co-creating, Co-Designing and Co-repairing with our patrons, with the hope that these pieces and stories will last a lifetime.

  • Take part in our garment-making and embroidery workshops offered in the studio or online. Learn how to mend your garments using one of our embroidery kits - make an embroidery patch or appliqué to cover rips and tears, or revamp a loved piece of clothing through creative embroidery and stitching. Our workshops and kits are fun and engaging and designed to elevate your clothing.

  • We offer online and physical workshops teaching mending and repair methods, such as embroidery, appliqué, darning, sashiko, and boro.

  • We offer a lifetime guarantee to repair Studio Erskine products using visible or invisible mending methods

Circular Design Studio

Material Intelligence & material stories

The circular design studio is a Digital creative hub and Commons library of circular design methods and materials, showcasing material stories, material compatibility and material lifecycles.

The Circular Design Studio offers a unique opportunity to share our garment stories, learn about circular materials and the sensory qualities that encourage emotional bonding to our clothing.

Learning how to mend, co-create and Co-design allows us to share our mutual understanding of the provenance of our clothing and the physical and emotional qualities they provide us.

Cafe Studio

The connection between food and memory is similar to the connection we have with objects that we hold close to our heart. At Studio Erskine we want to engage all the senses, from touch to smell and taste and we want to build memories through these sensory experiences. memories are stronger and easier to recall when they’re attached to a physical sensation and grounded in an emotional experience - And food like the sartorial pieces we love offers that emotional experience.

As a way to disseminate our work, We run an open studio cafe every two to four weeks. Come with your friends and Relax with a cup of coffee or tea and our home made cakes and pastries whilst you shop our products or take part in one of our workshops.
